The concrete surface of podiums is expected to withstand the stress of being exposed to weather conditions, decorative features such as planters and pavers and heavy vehicular movement. Thus, in order to achieve durability, effective surface protection and waterproofing are necessary. The large span of the podium surface allows higher exposure to weather elements and increased vibrations to vehicular movement, requiring the waterproofing system to be flexible, durable and of high quality.

Waterproofing of terraces can be complex. Terrace waterproofing requires the concrete substrate to be adequately protected and a sloped surface provided for effective drainage of water. The waterproofing envelope should cater to protecting the parapet walls as well. The average lifespan of a concrete water tank is 10 to 15 years, during which the internal concrete walls must resist constant hydrostatic pressure of varying degrees, and may also come in contact with chlorine and other chemicals that soften their surface. Expansion joints are installed to manage the coefficient of thermal expansion over large spans of concrete. The waterproofing material must not only cope with the movement of the building, but also be designed to resist aging that leads to the weakening of the bond on the concrete and causes failure of the system. A flexible material is essential so that it does not crack with movement. Masonry surfaces, such as exterior walls, are among the largest surface areas exposed to weather conditions such as rain, dust, UV rays and fungus. Watertightness (Impermeability) of external walls is usually achieved by providing adequate wall thickness, waterproofing, proper design of construction joints, surface rendering and finishes, which serve as a barrier against water ingress. If the exterior walls are not waterproofed, the invading moisture can cause damp walls, which are excellent breeding grounds for mildew and mold. This damages the walls and leads to health problems for the occupants. The use of either cement or general exterior acrylic paint is not an effective waterproof coating, as they do not create an impermeable envelope around the building. The coating should combine the properties of efficient waterproofing and aesthetics. We offer a dual benefit system for exterior walls that provides protection from UV radiation and also works as an elastomeric waterproofing coating.

Waterproofing of wet areas such as toilets, bathrooms, kitchens and balconies is critical on account of the constant use of water. The points of leakages are weak areas such as wall joints, joints between cisterns and pipes and faulty piping materials that corrode. If the moisture spreads through the floor or walls to the concrete, it can cause extensive damage to the rebars embedded in the concrete. Thus, it is important to have an impermeable barrier over the concrete to prevent the spread of moisture.
